Text-related factors
Alignment
As a general rule, text should be aligned horizontally in the direction of reading. Left-justified (ragged-right) text should be preferred as fully justified text results in irregularly sized spaces between words and more frequent hyphenation, particularly in narrow columns.1 As a general rule, fully justified text should never be used on websites.2
Summarized Recommendations
Alignment
- Align text horizontally
- Use left (ragged-right) rather than full justification
- Ensure that words are hyphenated logically
